Scriptural Text:

"The Truth is in the Pudding"

The message title comes from an old saying that goes, “The proof of the pudding is in the eating.” In others words, the proof can be trusted is in the “eating”that is by looking at the evidence.

(ESV): 17  Whoever speaks the truth gives honest evidence, but a false witness utters deceit.

In the judicial sense, evidence is required to confirm the testimony of a witness. In the lives of believers, practical evidence should be obvious as proof of the reality of their faith.
Dictionary of Bible Themes 5472 proof, as evidence

proof, as evidence

In the judicial sense, evidence is required to confirm the testimony of a witness. In the lives of believers, practical evidence should be obvious as proof of the reality of their faith.

The blind man had been delivered from darkness and given sight by the compassion of the Lord Jesus, the man is confronted by is neighbors (v.8-12), by the Pharisees (v.13-34), and by Jesus (35-41).
Through these passages the man’s growing knowledge of Jesus is easily seen and grasped—continuing getting spiritual sights
all the man knew that he was healed by a man called Jesus (v.8-12) after he was told do somethings, he obeyed

Point(v.8-12): the man heart was right toward Jesus, thus open to learn about Jesus before he can know Jesus personally()

(NKJV) 28Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
28Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

Point(v.13-15): the man still see Jesus as a mere man by confessing that Jesus is a great Helper and Healer to his questioners. The is far short of the truth.()

29Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
The delivered man did not yet know Jesus personally. He had not reached the stage of belief, of true salvation and worship
(NKJV) 22So all bore witness to Him, and marveled at the gracious words which proceeded out of His mouth. And they said, “Is this not Joseph’s son?”
22So all bore witness to Him, and marveled at the gracious words which proceeded out of His mouth. And they said, “Is this not Joseph’s son?”

Point(v.16-17): the man progressed in his view of Jesus, he saw Jesus as a prophet-the most authoritative voice among the people(, )

(NKJV) 13When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, “Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?” 14So they said, “Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”
13When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, “Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?”
14So they said, “Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”
(NKJV) 10And when He had come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, “Who is this?” 11So the multitudes said, “This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth of Galilee.”
10And when He had come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, “Who is this?”

Point(v.18-27): the man now see that Jesus is Savior. He gave confession of his own personal experience with Jesus, he was blind, but now he could see (, )

11So the multitudes said, “This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth of Galilee.”
He could not explain in theological terms, but he did know one thing: Jesus had delivered and saved him from blindness. Jesus was his Savior and Deliverer from blindness to sight.
(NKJV) 17For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
17For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
(NKJV) 10for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”
10for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”

Point(v.28-34): He confessed that Jesus was “of God.” He reasoned, (1) helping and delivering a blind man was God’s will, (2) Jesus delivered him. God heard Jesus’ prayer for him and empowered Jesus to heal him, (3) Jesus was bound to be “of God”(, )

(NKJV) 38For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.
38For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.
(NKJV) 28Then Jesus cried out, as He taught in the temple, saying, “You both know Me, and you know where I am from; and I have not come of Myself, but He who sent Me is true, whom you do not know. 29But I know Him, for I am from Him, and He sent Me.”
28Then Jesus cried out, as He taught in the temple, saying, “You both know Me, and you know where I am from; and I have not come of Myself, but He who sent Me is true, whom you do not know.
The man knew that the works of Jesus were proof that He was from God.(; )
29But I know Him, for I am from Him, and He sent Me.”

(NKJV) 12Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”

12Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”
9that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

(NKJV) 9that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

10For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
